What do you mean AUGUST?!?

The days are packed with activities, chores, events and more.
And now it's August. What the heck happened?
I'm trying to savor it but it feels more accelerated than usual. I was up north and had to leave RIGHT BEFORE Mom's tomato garden went nuts.
How maddening. They were all green, but looking more and more delicious with each passing day.
Mom and I picked some berries, and they were good, but it helped us remember why we only ever made blackberry jam as a family ONCE. Blackberries are so thorny, they are not fun to pick! It hurrrrrts.
A sizeable pumpkin on the vine was already as big as a chihuahua, who even knows what size it is now. There are more pumpkins on the way.
The grapes came earlier this year, the hot weather forced them forward, sort of a "hurry up and wait" for all crops up in Forestville. There will be a report near September's end, as that's when I'll be back up there.
Down here in Los Angeles it is quite HOT, and I'm doing my best to paint, but my studio is extremely warm. No amount of twirling fan (4 going in here) helps but to push hot air around, and so the old oak Rocketdyne desk upon which I paint is covered in papers and errant objects.
When this happens, however, it's not discouraging? It's kind of like... incubation. Colors still swirling, but in my head, not on the paper. The ebb and flow of this has always been part of my practice.
And then there's not running out of socks.
It keeps happening.
Should get around to purchasing more socks, since they wander, and not just when on my feet.
Stay tuned for more things in the store, as always, and summer's balmy hazy ways,
xoxoJP
