It cost 3.9 cents to make ONE penny. It was bad for the environment to make them, people would tend to put them in jars and forget about them. So now the penny is discontinued, but still ACTIVE in stores across the nation. This means it is now considered "zombie currency." I thought you might want to know, so I made an ornament about it.
